Why I love my job, By Dr. Greenberg

After 21 years there have been so many wonderful moments, you start to take them for granted. Almost everyday someone comes into our lives at the office that impacts us in a fantastic way. From a young woman with Cerebral Palsy that just can’t wait to have her teeth straightened and the smile it brings to her face not only when she gets her braces on but the delight in seeing her beautiful smile when we are finished. The joy a 9 year old has when they overcome their fear of having their braces or expanders placed and when they are finished with their appointment.

When our adult patients that have been waiting 20 years to “get there teeth fixed” and they finish after having gone through jaw surgery and braces, they are as excited as a child on Christmas Day.

I get asked frequently if I treat adults. I always respond of course we do and it really makes our jobs that much more interesting. Not only do we have the opportunity to interact with people other than teenagers, Adults present a whole new set of challenges as an orthodontist, these are the types of daily interactions that, even after 21 years make going to work fun!

I love it when patients that I treated 10 years ago come back in as adults and I get to see what they have become as they grow up, and begin working, getting married or having their own families!

Why Is It So Important To Have Straight Teeth?

Some people wonder why we work so hard to give our patients straight teeth. Of course it’s nice to have a smile full of evenly aligned teeth, but did you know that straightening your teeth can keep them healthier? Straight teeth lead to better oral hygiene, increasing your chances of keeping your own natural teeth for a lifetime.

Straight teeth are less prone to decay, because they collect less plaque – the sticky colorless substance that forms on our teeth and leads to tooth decay; and they are easier to keep clean!

If you’re wondering whether your teeth might cause problems because they are out of alignment, give us a call at 214-503-0060 to set up a consultation. Dr. Greenberg can help you decide whether or not you will benefit from orthodontic treatment.
